If you always change the content path/name, then the current version of Smart Gallery will not recognize it, and you would lose the benefit of "Pack View" and "Tagging" system. But the other feature will still work for you, listed below.
The future version of the Smart Gallery will support a custom path. You can continue to manage your content the same way, and wait for the future version.
